Alzheimers Services Supervisor 

Job Summary:

The Alzheimer's Services Supervisor is a front line and supervisory position acting as a representative for PJS Care Services and directing the Alzheimer’s care services offered by the company. The Alzheimer’s Service Supervisor through their specific subject matter training and continuing education promotes to maintain Clients' well-being by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of client care. Their guidance and supervision will involve directing and developing staff, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary professionals to achieve the best Client care in compliance with physician's orders. 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in the state of Illinois 

  • Degree in Nursing 

  • Certification from Alzheimers Association EssentiALZ program 

  • Certified Dementia specialist 

  • Certified by national council of Certified Dementia Practitioners 

  • 2-year experience working with Alzheimer disease patients including 1 year
    in position of management 

  • Completed State of Illinois Administration Code training for ability-centered care 

  • Able to supervise (instruct, assign work, etc.) RN’s, LPN’s, Nursing Assistants,
    and Aides 

  • Current certificate in standard first aid and CPR  

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation  

  • Excellent communication and listening skills. 

  • Ability to work in a stressful environment. 

  • Skills in reviewing clinical work of others for compliance with professional standards and practice guidelines. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following list is a guideline of possible responsibilities and duties to be performed independently or as a group of duties by the Alzheimer's Services Supervisor but is not limited to only those listed below: 

  • Develop and manage Alzheimer disease program  

  • Establish nursing human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, communicating job expectations, recommending compensation actions, and ensuring adherence to HR policies and procedures. 

  • Frequently provide on-site supervision of RNs, LPNs, Nurse Assistants, and Aides to ensure the implementation of the Agency’s Policies and Procedures and effective Client care. 

  • Frequently receive feedback from Client and nursing staff to assess relationships between said parties and as necessary work to remedy problem areas identified. 

  • Ensure the Client's Plan of Care is being implemented effectively. 

  • Assure quality of care by developing and implementing standards of care, enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and administration code, state nurse practice act requirements, Illinois Department of Public Health and other governing agency regulations, measuring levels of care against standards, and making or recommending adjustments to remain in compliance. 

  • Provide information to Clients and health care team by answering questions and fulfilling requests. 

  • Educate employees, Clients and Client's family members about health
    care issues. 

  • Function as a resource person and mentor to all RNs, LPNs, Nurse Assistants,
    and Aides under your supervision to maintain professional standards and be available to staff to answer questions and help deal with emergent matters. 

  • Scheduling hours and assigning staff to specific Clients. 

  • Receive care staff call-offs. Recording call-offs and updating schedule. 

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by designing and implementing policies and procedures, rules, and regulations accordingly. 

  • Provide input to the governing body for the development and improvement of policies and procedures to support Client safety and the provision of quality care. 

  • Maintain documentation of Client care services and audit Client records. 

 

General Notes:

The Alzheimer Services Supervisor is a position of great responsibility that
requires strong critical thinking and excellent people skills. There may be emergency situations where the Alzheimer Services Supervisor will have to react quickly with sound judgement and deal with complex problems regarding a variety of issues. The scope of duties described in this document may not include all duties to be performed by the Alzheimer Services Supervisor and is subject to change. 

 

Place of Employment:

PJS Care Services' corporate office, Client homes, and work sites outside of the Client's home as needed. 

 

Works in Consultation with:

PJS Care Services' Agency Manager and Nursing Supervisor. 

 

Work Hours:

This is a full-time position that requires a variety of shifts and hours.
